Once again, a Western government misleads its voters over immigration. Political discourse has become devoid of hope on this issue and misses the practical realities of inclusion.
Wonderful John! The best piece I have read on immigration. Thank you. I live in Leicester, a wonderful immigrant city. I am married to an immigrant. I have lived and worked abroad in four different countries and know what it is like to be an "alien". What have I learnt living in Leicester for over 20 years and living abroad for 25 years? We are all human and it is possible to make life -long, authentic friendships across ethnicities. We are all made in the image of God in wonderful diversity and are blessed to be in community with each other.
Amen to that. Four foreign countries (plus Wales) have accepted me as an immigrant in the last 30 years. Theresa May might call me a "citizen of nowhere" but I was able to make home in all these places (three of them being Muslim-majority countries). Should we be surprised that a Labour PM follows suit with this debased political discourse?
Excellent piece, John
